I don't mind the racy scenes. I know s e x wasn't invented in the 1960's.However, the book was badly written IMO. Key conflict points came out of nowhere, with no foundation laid for them. Traumatic turns of events like the revelations about Jane and Bingley need to be laid out gradually, with hints dropped for the reader to pick up on so that when the truth is revealed, it doesn't feel like an assault on the reader.
I see the author has taken to posting replies to the negative reviews. Very unprofessional, also IMO. Haven't you heard that one of the reasons readers read is to get to know the author better? You're not making me eager to read another book from you.

Mr Darcy Takes a Wife Pride and Prejudice Continues Linda Berdoll Books Reviews
While this is an extremely interesting story that blends the usual characters with very interesting new ones it has the same problem that many adaptations suffer from. Writers seem to believe that in order to emulate Miss Austen they must find and use any archaic, unused, or simply obscure word and load as many on the reader as possible. I fortunately use my to read and can easily access the dictionary. But the need to pause for researching definition every few minutes gets annoying.
This is not an easy book to read at first (given the authenticity of its early 19th century vernacular), but it’s worth learning the language, because this is a delightful, masterfully written book. The characters are largely true to the original, and the relationship between Darcy and Elizabeth is one every sane human being longs for. I laughed, I cried. I loved it, from beginning to end!
This is not a love story! If you’re looking for a continuation of pride and prejudice try Sharon Latham’s Darcy Saga. First of all, this book is way too long. It’s like 500 pages of depression. Second, nothing is happy. The characters are traumatized and depressed for 85% of the novel. Jane Austen wrote romance novels, not angst. I left the Darcy Saga because I found that Elizabeth a bit weak, but I’ll take her weakness over this garbage.
I give it a 4. It seems someone had too much fun with a thesaurus. I've studied Victorian literature, and have never noticed the prefix be- to be used often, but this writer uses it at odd times. Not a deal-breaker, and certainly not grammatically incorrect. Putting that aside, the story casts a shadow on the illustrious Mr. Darcy that I didn't much care for. In the original, he was said to be respectable, and unforgiving of displeasing offenses. That having been said, I feel it was out of character (though not historically incorrect in general) for Darcy to have come to his marriage bed already experienced.
I give it a 4 because while those things do bother me, the plot was well-written, including the historical reference of the war in France. Just read it and you'll see what I mean.
I enjoyed the book but I gave it 3 stars for a few reasons.
The book is long. There were times that I couldn't put it down and times that I could care less about what was happening.. This can be good and bad. It took a couple of months to finish the book but I found that I enjoyed being able to put it down when a certain story line was complete then pick it up later to continue. Parts of the story were very funny (Mr. Collins...), parts were romantic (Darcy riding in to save Elizabeth and administer justice) and parts were unbelievable (Lizzy jumping from the balcony into Darcy's arms).
Spoiler Alert! I wish she had written more about how Jane found out about Bingley's affair and how they resolved their issues. Did their sex life improve? Did I miss it because this was a part that I read quickly?
Yes, they had a lot of sex in the beginning of the book but, this was the beginning of their marriage. The amount of sex lessened as the story and their marriage continued - just like real life. I did not find it offensive. Those sections are easily skipped.
Georgiana knew what she wanted and figured out how to get it. This story line was a little unbelievable to me but still fun to read.
The book wrapped up too quickly - like many Pride & Prejudice books. This was a long book so the ending should not have been rushed. Not everything was tied into a neat bow. I did not like the very end of the book. It left me a little unsatisfied. I would have liked an epilogue.
The writing in the book is overly pretentious, the write tries to use Regency style vocabulary but over shoots. Also there are words of Latin and Greek that are absolutely incorrect and even some French (?) Words that are entirety made up.
Every character is protraied as an extra of themselves, and Lizzy is insecure and anxious to the point of total OOC.
I am the type of person that cannot put down a book if its interesting. And have forced myself to finish others that I found tedious. But for the first time in 30 years I have abandoned a book. I could not forceyselff to read more than 100 pages. The discrepancies of the era, language, customs and characters was simply too much. For the first time I was angered and irate towards a writer and publishing company for lack of research!
On top if that the book I received had water damage and was frayed in several spots.
I am glad that I didn't spend much on this drivel. Stay far away!
I'm no Austen purist. Truth is, no one could do a proper sequel beside Jane Austen. But still, I read P&P adaptations. Some I've actually really liked, but this one was AWFUL. I tried to finish it... Literally forced myself to keep going, but I couldn't. The language used is often times vulgar; the side stories so uninteresting I skipped some. Darcy and Elizabeth are constantly having sex. Whatever. I've read others where they also get intimate and the book was still good, but this book is the equivalent of bad porno with bad actors. The Darcy and Elizabeth depicted here are nothing like the original. I got to point where I was skipping around to find "the good parts" but I just couldn't anymore. Too bad I bought the actual book. I've had it for a long time and just today I tried to read it again and once again couldn't.
I don't mind the racy scenes. I know s e x wasn't invented in the 1960's.
However, the book was badly written IMO. Key conflict points came out of nowhere, with no foundation laid for them. Traumatic turns of events like the revelations about Jane and Bingley need to be laid out gradually, with hints dropped for the reader to pick up on so that when the truth is revealed, it doesn't feel like an assault on the reader.
